The following is the General Index arranged alphabetically by towns, each with an index arranged by surnames.

Not all towns existing in Connecticut at the time this collection was developed have been included. In some cases it appears that the records of certain towns were not available for extraction. In other cases, the records were not included in the "Barbour Collection" as reproduced here on Microfilm, though they were extracted in Mr. Barbour's work. The reason seems to be that the records had already been printed in other publications at the time of preparation of this collection, and Mr. Barbour apparently did not want to duplicate existing publications.

In addition to this microfilm collection, the library has 39 volumes covering selected counties in the Barbour Collection.
